During recently held Oracle Open World in San Francisco, Oracle announced the availability of the next version of Oracle VM – 2.2. There are quite a number of enhancements in the new version related to the storage layer – one important new feature is the support for OCFS2 v1.4. The implications of using OCFS2 v1.4 are very interesting – for example its feature for sparse file support is very effective in a virtual environment (i.e. on virtual disks). If you are familiar with VMware vSphere, you can think of it as the thin provisioned virtual disks supported by VMware vSphere.
