None of the major facts have changed in the ongoing controversy in which Greenpeace International has objected to Facebook’s energy sourcing for its new data center in Oregon. But the environmental group managed to grab a fresh round of headlines today when a Greenpeace executive wrote a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg restating its existing grievances.

Green Attack On Facebook: Unfair, But Could It Help?

Facebook has responded to criticism of its data centre strategy - and it seems Greenpeace isn’t being fair. But maybe that’s not the point.
The Greenpeace campaign has got legs. The environmental campaigner has asked Facebook to “unfriend” coal, after it signed a long-term power deal with a PacificCorp, a utility that makes the majority of its power from coal. Facebook apparently doesn’t have a public green policy, and Greenpeace says it’s not as green as Yahoo or Google.

Capgemini Swindon Data Center Aims To Be Greenest In The World

Douglas Farquahar, Head of Sustainable Outsourcing at Capgemini U.K has jumped squarely on the green data center bandwagon, and with good cause. A big portion of the company s revenues are generated through IT and when you consider the statistic that the green IT service sector is set to grow at a rate of 60% until 2013, it’s easy to see why companies like Capgemini need to make clear which side of the fence they’re on.
